Is it safe to get a filler in the tip of the nose?

I had surgery to correct a broken nose some years ago. I was left with an atrophic dent on one side of my nose tip. I was interested in doing the whole 'nonsurgical nose job' thing to get it filled in... But I've read mixed things on fillers being used in the tip of the nose. Is it safe?

In experienced hands, fillers are used routinely to nonsurgically treat all kinds of nasal bridge and nasal tip abnormalities (as can be seen from the before and after pictures of one of my patients in the sidebar to this column). That having been said, if we are talking about an indented, depressed (atrophic) scar on the tip of the nose, I would opt for treating this with subcision first. Subcision, a simple procedure that you can find out more about in the archives of Realself.com, can result in permanent improvement and does not engender the potential risk of blood vessel compromise that occasionally occurs in a nose that has previously sustained trauma or undergone surgery. Consultation with an experienced board certified aesthetic physician with experience in scar treatments and nonsurgical nose jobs is strongly urged.

Filler is used frequency for fixing noses especially those that have been broken or revised but still have irregularities.  There are risks to injecting this area and my suggestion would be to see someone very experienced, who does this often.  Best, Dr. Emer.

thought treatment for indent in the tip of the nose really depends upon what is causing the didn't. If the didn't is caused from cartilage, a rhinoplasty procedure with cartilage grafting is required. If the didn't is caused from skin atrophy, there are multiple minor surgical procedures that can help with that. In our practice, we do not recommend fillers placed in the nasal tip  due to necrosis issues.
