Cost for fat transfer and lower eye blepharoplasty?

Question

How much would a fat transfer to correct dark circles and an eye blepharoplasty cost? The procedure would be done in both eyes? I recognize it differs from state to state, but an estimate would be appreciated. Thank you !

Hello! The national average cost for lower lid surgery is just under $3000, not including sedation and facility fees. Fat transfer is another $2000 or more. However, many surgeons would not advise fat transfer to the lower lids- the eyelid skin is the thinnest skin on the body and can show permanent lumps. Fillers such as Restylane are an alternative depending on your anatomy. I would recommend a consult with an experienced facial plastic surgeon for more specific quotes after an evaluation of your concerns.

The cost of surgery is not based on the zip code as much as with the other expenses involved in providing quality care. Some physicians performing fat grafting procedures have had ten years of formal surgical training  following medical school. Others may have had absolutely no surgical training and no hospital privileges for the procedure you are receiving.  Other costs involved include safety factors like have a well staffed medical team both inside and outside the OR. Anesthesia can be provided by a board-certified MD anesthesiologist, or by someone other than an MD. All of these factors that contribute to the safety, comfort and ultimately the result of a surgical procedure factor into the costs.In many cases, the evidence of success with a procedure can be seen in before and after photos. Photos should have consistent position, consistent lighting and be the same distance from the camera. Finally, the cost of the procedure will be based upon the time spent in the OR. Most plastic surgeons will have a range of price, but be aware of cookie cutter prices, given over the phone without an in person consultation or without a phone consultation that includes reviewing photos from multiple perspectives.  Surgery of the eyelid is a big deal. The results can be beautiful and can provide a patient with added confidence and a fresher, rejuvenated appearance. Take your time finding a plastic surgeon to perform eyelid surgery. Look at many, many photos and check your plastic surgeon's credentials and record of safety. A complete quote, with no pressure to schedule should be provided after a thorough consultation.

Hello 22yearold guy,As you mentioned in your question, the cost will vary significantly based on your location.  For example, rent and staff cost more in major metropolitan areas such as New York than they do in other parts of the country and this factors into the cost.  Other factors include the location of where the surgery is performed (surgery in a hospital is more than in a surgical center).  As an estimate I would say you are looking around $5-7k for an upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty with fat transfer.  I would recommend you consult with a facial plastic surgeon, plastic surgeon, or oculoplastic surgeon in order to find out more specifics.I hope this helps and good luck.
