Fat Grafting to fill line in cheeks

Question

I am wondering if fat grafting would be a viable option for filling the large line/dent I have in my cheeks? I've had these since birth and they have been getting more and more pronounced as I'm getting older.

Thank you for your picture and question. From the appearance in the picture, you may be a candidate for fat injection to fill the area in question. I would also advise you that before pursuing something permanent like fat injection, you might want to consider temporary injectables such as HA fillers. There is an HA filler on the market, Juvederm Voluma, that is specifically indicated for mid-face volume deficiency. Trying this first might give you a chance to see if you like the results first before pursuing permanent treatment. Seek out a qualified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.Best of luck!

this "dent" is a normal anatomy.  you can improve it with fillers, fat and/or sculptra and lasers or radiofrequency treatments that tighten and improve texture, but often there is still some residual amount of "line" as this is a genetic feature.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Fat grating would be an option for you, however fat is unpredictable. For a patient as young as you it would be safer to use a hyaluronic acid based filler. Some tightening of the overlying skin with Erbium laser or BBL may also give additional benefit.Good luck

You would need sufficient volume which fat would provide.  You might also consider Voluma, Restylane Lyft, Sculptra, or Radiesse as alternatives.

Good Morning, Thank you for your question.  Fat transfer can be done to minimize this line and enhance the cheek for a smoother appearance.  If you have not had cheek filler before, it is wise to try a temporary filler first, such as Voluma or Volift (these are hyaluronic acid fillers and last generally 6-9 months), to make sure you like the look and contour before moving to a more permanent option such as fat. Thank you for your post. Your photo is helpful, and judging from that alone, you would seem to be an ideal candidate for fat grafting (fat transfer) to fill in and contour your cheeks. I would meet w/ a plastic surgeon to discuss it. It can be a very nice procedure which is long-lasting in terms of results. It has some limitations so it requires a thorough consultation.
