I am going to get breast augmentation next month.. When I went for my consultation, the doctor said I needed a breast lift only on my right breast. Is it necessary though? .. Because then I will have 2 different shades of nipples due to the scarring. If I just get the implants will it be okay? Or will my right side sag even more?

Answer: Breast lift on one side only with breast augmentation It is not uncommon for one breast to hang lower than the other. In your case, you should plan on having the breast lift on the right breast along with the augmentation. Areolar scars can fade and blend in with the areolar-skin interface and look natural, so don't worry about the scar. You want the best look.

Answer: To lift or not to lift When I see your photo (which is not the same as a consultation) I agree it is possible, and even probable, that you need a lift. But it is not a guarantee. It depends on several things: the size of the implant, the shape of the implant, your preferences (scar versus a bit of asymmetry). If you were my patient I would have a long conversation about all that and see where your opinion lies. I would probably suggest doing the augmentation then converting to a lift as well if needed. If not required then I wouldn't. I think that it is a game time decision. However, your surgeon can only make the right choice for you if they have taken the time to get to know you and your goals.Dr Rodger ShorttOakville Plastic SurgeonDirector of Cosmetic Surgery Training Program &Assistant Clinical Professor,McMaster University
