Hi. Blood loss from a breast lift is typically very small in amount. So, as long as your starting level of hemoglobin is in the safe range (more than 10 gm), most surgeons would be OK with you having the procedure. However, sorting out the cause of your anemia = low hemoglobin would be important to do, for your own long-term health.
Hi Alessandra,See the excellent answer below by Dr. Sylora. I agree totally, the blood loss is minimal. More importantly be sure you know the basic cause of your anemia, and I am assuming it is not too, too low.
There is very little blood loss with most cosmetic procedures, including a breast lift. However, there is a minimal blood count you should have to remain safe. This can be discussed with your surgeon (please make sure they are certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery as they are trained to be safe, and this is a large part of how they are tested to become board certified). In the meantime, have you been tested to know why you are anemic? if you have chronic bleeding from your menstrual cycle, see a gynecologist for ways to decrease this. Eat a diet high in iron containing foods, including red meat, spinach, dark green leafy vegetables, etc. Other vitamins and supplements may also help. See a good primary doctor to optimize your health before any surgery.
Yo need to have a least a reasonable hemoglobin to be eligible for surgery. With a breast lift I usually only lose a tiny amount of blood. If you can be safely put to sleep then getting a breast lift should be okay. Make sure your surgeon is comfortable and does not lose much blood with their breast lifts. Good luck.
There is very little blood lost during breast lift surgery. It might be possible for you to have surgery. What's most important is for you to know the reason for your anemia, get it treated if necessary, and to know if your anemia is stable enough to make surgery safe. Your family doctor or a hematologist can help you determine these things. Good luck to you.
Hello dear, thanks for your question andprovided information as well.. With your hemo at 12.0 you can have it safely! The breasts may lose their elasticity and firmness which can be caused bydifferent factors such as pregnancy, massive weight loss, lactation and aging. To reaffirm the breasts and restore the natural look your surgeon can perform amastopexy or breast lift. A breast lift restores a firmer, perkier, and more aesthetically pleasing shape to sagging breasts. This notonly can improve a patient’s appearance by restoring her youthful, feminine proportions, but also help bras and swimsuits fit morecomfortably and attractively. By removing excess, stretched out skin, reshapingthe breast tissue, and raising the nipple & areola into a more forwardposition, a cosmetic surgeon can create a more youthful breastcontour. Stretched, large areolae can also be reduced during breastlift surgery, creating an overall better proportioned, natural looking breast, Actuallythe perkiness on a person or another, depends on patients skin and breasttissue, hugs!
Having anemia is a contraindication to ANY surgery! Best to see hematologist for a written medick clearance. If you can not obtain one NO surgeon would operate upon you.
Thank you for your question. The answer is it really depends. It depends on what your actual hemoglobin is as well as why you are anemic as well as what type of lift you would be having. Typically there is not very much blood loss at all involved with breast lift procedures. I would certainly recommend an in person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss what type of procedure you were looking for as well as whatever other medical problems you have to adequately address any questions you have regarding your peri operative risk.
In most cases Blood loss is not significant. however I recommend that prior to any surgical procedure head out for consultation with a hematologist.
Regardless of the breast lift technique used in surgery, there is always a risk of numbness (partial or complete). However, there are several ways to minimize such risk, including gentle dissection and leaving the nipple-areolar complex still attach to its stalk (blood supply and nerves) when ...
