Pain in areola 3 years after breast lift. What can I do about this? (Photo)

Question

I had a breast lift 3 years ago and I feel the stitches around my areola internally . I get shooting pain and even throbbing pain here and there . Also loss of sensation only in my left areola .

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing.  I encourage you to return to your surgeon for an evaluation of your pain.  Further imaging studies such as a mammogram or ultrasound may be needed in order to help diagnose your symptoms.

If permanent stitches are present, they can be excised. The sensation will not improve. Please discuss this with your surgeon.
