I had several sessions of Threads around my eyes ( 4 times ) and cheeks . I have to say that I have not seen any difference with that particular procedure and thus am now considering fat transfer with a plastic surgeon ( threads were done with a dermatologist ) . However, I have now read that threads leave scars and am worried that since I had so many , these scars might interfere with fat grafting ( forming lumps etc ? ) . Please can someone give me their opinion . THANK YOU !
Answer: Fat grafting over treads? It will all depend on clinical findings; if patient has visible bands from threads, fat grafts may be placed around to decrease visibility. Most of the threads used today are resorbable and that may eliminate significant irregularities in time. It is best to disucc these issue with your surgeon ahead of surgery. Good luck.

Answer: Fat after threads Good question. There is no reason why prior threadliftng would make you any less suitable a candidate for fat transfer than someone who never had threadlifitng. Fat transfer is actually a preferred method to rejuvenate in the background of deformations related to scars. Do see someone experienced, however.

Answer: Choosing correct providers and procedures I think you’ll find that most talented plastic surgeons are not big fans of gimmicky solutions like thread lifts. These are often done by those within sufficient training or lesser training than a experienced board-certified plastic surgeon. They may have their place and there may be individuals who’ve had at least short term good results with them but to date I’ve only seen the complications. Facial fat transfer is technically difficult, and precise, unpredictable and unforgiving. You didn’t include any pictures so we can’t help you make a baseline assessment but my suggestion to you is that you simply find the most senior talented plastic surgeon who is known for doing facial aesthetic surgery in your community and get a few consultations by those type of providers. It’s a mistake for patients to decide on their own what’s a good procedure. You should instead let a highly experienced provider make an assessment, give you a proper diagnosis and then recommend appropriate treatment options. That may include fat transfer but with that procedure I see far too many people who are unhappy with the outcome and one’s grafted it’s very difficult to remove previously grafted fat. Some providers may be apprehensive to do fat transfer on someone with previous threads. You’ll have to find out firsthand during in person consultations. Successful quality outcome cosmetic surgery should always be based on patients choosing the most talented and experienced providers first and foremost and then following their recommendations. To have quality outcomes patients need to be astute consumers and properly vets plastic surgeons to find the most talented and experience providers. A lot of the best plastic surgeons for facial aesthetics tend to be older individuals because facial aging clientele typically seek experienced providers and often want providers who are in their own age category. Most plastic surgeons also improve substantially on their skills and are usually at their best at around 15 to 20 years out of practice. Find the right plastic surgeon and everything falls into place. Personally I recommend people work with fillers rather than fat transfer when it comes to facial aesthetics. Unlike fat grafting fillers are precise, predictable and very forgiving. Find the right plastic surgeon and everything falls into place. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
