Can cheekbone be repositioned after it has been reduced and pushed inward? Meaning, is it possible to recut the bone and pushed it outward again or would it cause more problems? W

Hello and thank you for your question.  The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Did you sustain a fracture and if so, how long ago?   Depending on the timing of this, you may benefit from a malar implant if you want to increase the volume or width of this area.  I always use a medpor implant with screw
fixation, which stays in place over time.  A silicone malar implant has a
high rate of malrotation over time.  Make
sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients
who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer
animation system. The most important aspect is to find a
surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a
qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

It is, in general, much easier to augment a cheek bone with implant, permanent filler or a fat graft then to cut it out, move forward and fix it in a new position. The late procedure requires  larger surgical incision(s) and operative site, hospital setting in most cases, and much longer recovery. In-person evaluation and consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in craniofacial surgery and/or facial implants would help. Good luck.

Whether the cheekbone has been inwardly repositioned due to trauma or from an elective cheekbone reduction osteotomy, it can be moved back outward through a secondary osteotomy technique. To address your external aesthetic cheek issues, it is as question of whether it is better to reposition the bone or camouflage it with an implant.
