I recently turned 24 and although the fold isn't prominent in softer lighting, I feel like it's been getting worse and worse. My decade long battle with acne due to PCOS is probably not helping. I'm thinking the fold is largely due my bones structure, because I'm not really having trouble with fine lines. I heard about cheek implants, but I'm scared that they will already make my philtrum area longer, which i feel is already long. what's the best approach?

Answer: Treatment of nasolabial folds in 20's I would not recommend any surgical procedure to treat your nasolabial folds. It is possible an injectable filler could help to produce some softening however.

Answer: Nasolabial folds Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Based on your photographs, you may benefit from a dermal filler such as juvederm. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
