How long does it take to recover from a small hump being shaved off your nose?

Hey! I have a small hump on the right side of my nose, right above the nostril and I'm almost certain (though not 100%) that I don't need my nose to be broken at all to remove it... It's really small but it bothers me a lot. I only need it shaven off. I was wondering a few things about this but the main thing I was wondering is how long the recovery process take after the procedure is done?? I would take a picture but I can't at the moment, just wanted the question out there and answered ASAP.

It is hard to guess correctly what kind of lesion your are talking about without photos? Is this on the skin or underneath the skin? Deformity of your nose cartilage or bone? It would be good to an image of "hump".You should see a plastic surgeon in your area to discuss this issue. Your recovery will depend of the procedure that needs to be performed to remove "the hump".Good luck.

It is impossible to give you an exact time -- could be as short as a few days to 3 weeks -- depends on what has to be done. Also, with a nose if a lot is done it can take up to a year to see the final result.

Not sure what could be done without seeing photos. Usually when one talks about a hump, it is on the dorsum of the nose and consists of cartilage and bone. Are you referring to a skin lesion?

The recovery from a rhinoplasty is usually about 10-14 days for the visible swelling and bruising to subside.  The cast is usually applied across the nose for one week. When the a dorsal hump is removed, the  roof is lifted off, therefore osteotomies are required to narrow the bridge line and close the open roof deformity created from the hump removal.

I am not sure what is the nature of this "hump" above your right nostril.It can be either soft tissue  or cartilage ,which require different approaches and therefore have different recovery periods.

Hi avocados, Without photos, it will be hard to render proper evaluation, but generally, a small hump or bony asymmetry of bridge can be removed by shaving or rasping without fracturing the bone, or any additional procedure. If this is so, your nose should be socially acceptable in 2 about weeks, but result will settle in 6-12 months.

If the bump is cartilage, I would guess that ,in a healthy young person, after about 4-6 weeks the majority of the surgical swelling will be gone.Bony humps would take considerably longer if an osteotomy is needed.
