I have been reading about using Minoxidil for beard growth? Does it work and how should I use it safely?

There is no evidence that it increases growth in beards although I have had patients tell me it works there and on their eyebrows too.  Best, Dr. Emer.

there are no products that have been proven to increase beard hair growth. Beard hair growth is genetic and you may still have growth. If your beard doesn't grow with time, beard hair tranplant can be a viable option. 

Minoxidil is not the best treatment for growing beards in young men. Much of the time it does not bring out the real beard but can produce some peach fuzz. Many young men want to accelerate their beard growth and ask
about it. It takes age (genetic triggers which occur in family lines) so
if you want to find out when your beard will grow out, you need to find out
when your father or grandfather started to grow theirbeard. Hormones should have kicked in
nicely by the time a man reaches 18 but he must wait out his genetics
as hormone alone are not responsible for the onset of beard grown. Beard
transplants can be done when the young man is a bit older (over 25) if the
beard has not grown in yet
