This is a hereditary feature from my father but I would like a chin with a less pronounced crease. Had a combo of Botox and Radiesse in the area before and they helped soften the line between my lower lip and chin by relaxing the underlying muscles and adding more tissue volume, but like all injectables they are temporary solutions, and I need to repeat treatments twice a year to maintain optimal results. Way too expensive in New York area.

Answer: Mental Crease and Fat Transfer The Mental Crease is a deep crease that is the result of the action of the mentalis muscle. Over time this crease gets deeper and deeper. Filler is usually not enough to improve this crease dramatically. I My preference is Fat Transfer for this crease and the lines around the lips. I have been doing fat transfer for over 15 years with permanent results. In all of my facelift patients I add fat to this area for rejuvenation. I call it the Peri-Oral Triangle. This includes the nasolabial folds and marionette lines as well. Fat transfer allows a great result that dramatically enhances the face. In my opinion, Fat transfer is the only way to improve the mental crease long term. You should definitely consider this as an option. Good luck

Answer: Probably fat is the ideal filler for applications such as that. A simple trick is to mix some saline with hyalase and inject a ml or 2 of that. You will get to see what you will get with another form of filler, i.e. fat. Hope that helps, Adam Goodwin
