why is the BBL technique not used for breasts??

Question

A doctor here on real self claims that the BBL is a false sell and the fat will all eventually dissolve/disappear. According to him, if it was such an effective method of gaining volume, why is the same method not used for breasts rather than implants. I am not a doctor so i don't know the technicalities but i see sense in his claim. So, if the BBL is effective, why is the same method not used on breasts?

The principle behind the Brazilian butt lift is grafting fat from one place to another. This can certainly be done to breasts as well as many other parts of the body. There are certain limitations to breast fat transfer. The most significant limitation is the amount of fat that can be placed at any one time. As a general rule, we try to never place more fat than would double the size of the breasts. Of the fat grafted, only a certain percentage will stay. Some of the fat is absorbed.  We refer to this procedure as Up A Cup. In general, that is what patients should expect from the procedure. It's possible to do fat grafting more than the once. If a patient wants to be substantially larger, then breast implants make more sense.We routinely perform these procedures while patients are awake, using no needles, no scalpels and no sutures. Hello and thank you for the inciteful question. The other Dr. was wrong.  We are not 100% sure but I believe it is due to the surface area of the buttocks, the type of fat and the large underlying muscle. There is plenty of evidence that bbl's do last with the fat surviving. It does not all survive and sometimes a second and or third session of fat injections is needed.  In fact it does so as well when done to the breasts. Some concerns with fat to breasts is masking a cancer when doing mammograms. Numerous studies show that this is not the case either.Hopefully this has answered your question. Peter Fisher M.D.
