I find that most of my patients LOSE weight after liposuction as they see their new body (as i do a lot of hi def full body contouring) and get very excited so they exercise, diet and maintain the results. Best, Dr. Emer.
I doubt that anyone has a firm number to answer that question. In my own experience, liposuction tends to motivate people to maintain their new appearance through a healthy diet and exercise. Good luck!
I do not know an exact percentage, but I can tell you that whether or not you gain weight after liposuction is entirely up to you. If you maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, there is no reason that you would gain weight after liposuction; conversely, if you lead an unhealthy lifestyle, you may end up gaining weight. It is not uncommon to gain a few pounds immediately following liposuction due to swelling, water retention, and lack of exercise, but this is not significant weight gain and usually drops off after a few weeks. It is important to remember that liposuction is not a weight loss tool, but rather a way to contour the body into a more aesthetically pleasing shape. Liposuction will not help you to lose a significant amount of weight.
Hello Micquar,The women who fail liposuction are those who don't take good care of themselves nutritionally before surgery and view liposuction as a fat loss operation. It is designed for patients who are close to ideal body weight and want to fine tune their body contours. These patients are usually in good shape and eat well. After liposuction, fat intake needs to be adjusted and exercise needs to continue to maximize the results of liposuction.Working with a plastic surgeon who understands this will increase your chances of a successful outcome.Good luck,Dr. Shah
If you're talking about lean body weight and not immediate increases in weight due to fluid retention from the operation I'm not sure I know the answer. In my practice most patients undergoing liposuction have motivation for improvement in body contour and end up losing weight subsequently.
Liposuction is not a good weight loss tool. It is valuable for areas of fat that do not go away despite diet and exercise. Liposuction will not prevent someone from gaining weight if they do not keep a healthy lifestyle after surgery.
Thank you for your question. Soon after any surgery everyone weight is increased from swelling of the surgery. Once healed anyone can gain weight after liposuction. Liposuction is not a weight loss program, if you eat and live unhealthy you will gain weight.
Thank you for the question and liposuction is not a diet procedure but is meant to sculpt areas of persistent fat. In that regard if one gains weight it is not to the same extent in those areas that have undergone liposuction.Dr. Corbin
I have never noticed any correlation between weight gain after liposuction with any of my patients.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
That's a good question. Patients do not gain weight because they had the surgery. they only gain weight if their caloric intake is greater than their caloric expenditure. So it is important to maintain weight control after surgery as well as before. It is also important to understand that the liposuction procedure is not for weight loss.
Liposuction takes several weeks to months for all swelling/retention to subside. I always advise my patients to NOT get on a scale for atleast 3 months for that reason.
You will probably need surgery to improve the appearance of this region. The good news is that many different treatments, none too involved, are available. These include liposuction, tissue removal, or a combination. Undergoing these surgical treatments can help you look and feel...
Dear Los Angeles 4257,We surgeons hate the skin on the inner thighs! In most patients this skin is very thin and has terrible elasticity. The surgeries for inner thigh lifting are also not the greatest unless a scar can be run down the length of the inner thigh like the inseam of your pants....
