Do female physicians get breast augmentation?

Question

I'm a medical student thinking about getting a breast augmentation. Do you see many physicians as patients? As a physician or plastic surgeon would YOU get a breast augmentation given the risks and benefits? I realize this is a very generalized question but I know that for those who see breast augmentation patients and their complications on a regular basis plastic surgeons probably have a lot more insight than someone depending on the Internet and research studies to make the decision.

Great question. Many female plastic surgeons have breast augmenation with silicone gel implants. Also, many plastic surgeons have performed breast augmentation on their own daughters.  It is THE most studied medical device which we implant in humans in the planet and has been found to be safe.  I hope this helps and best wishes.

Absolutely I would have a breast augmentation if I needed one. I have performed this surgery on many med students and physicians and some of my closest girl friends. The current 5th generation implants are well studied and have proven to be a very safe medical device.

Hi Med Student,Oh those were the days.  I have done augmentation on many types of physicians including surgeons and plastic surgeons using saline and silicone.  Be sure to see only a board certified
plastic surgeon (by ABPS - The American Board of Plastic Surgery) who is a
member of ASAPS (The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) and or a
member of ASPS (The American Society of Plastic Surgeons). Also, ask if they
have an established, high volume breast augmentation practice, performing
several hundred breast augmentations each year. Be sure the PS has been in
practice for a while, 20-years or more might be a good gauge.Does the PS offer all three incisions?Discuss the implant type (gel or saline),
shaped "gummy bear" or non-shaped, smooth or textured, implant pocket
(over or under the muscle) and the "quick recovery approach."Ask to see their before and after photos if
you didn’t see any on their website.  If they are experienced, they should
have several 100 breast implant patients for you to view.  I would also
recommend that your doctor offer you the chance to talk to past patients who
would be happy to discuss their experience with you.  You need to feel
comfortable, so make sure the environment is safe as in an accredited surgery
center. Also, ask a prospective surgeon if he or she has ever published journal
articles in professional peer-reviewed journals, which they can provide

I know this is hard to believe, but we are people too and have the right to feel beautiful and better. The fact that you are a physician wont change anything at all, And if I wouldn't trust my skills as a surgeon or the technique itself, I just wouldn't do it in any patient at all.
