I was wondering if my stomach (upper part) were you can't see my belly button is either excess fat or loose skin. I have lost a little over a 100 lbs in the last two years. I am 5'1 and currently weight about 150-152 lbs. I would like to loose another 30 lbs? 30 yrs old. Do you think that loosing the next thirty pounds will decrease the upper crease hanging over my belly button or should I consider a full tummy tuck in the future. I am not married and do not have kids.
Answer: Combination of loose skin and fat Congratulations for the courage and determination of losing weight and become a healthier women, which will impact positively your body and life. The skin over your nave represents the combination of loose skin and fat, once you lose some more weight, that skin will be more flaccid and also thinner, and there is no way to make that skin tighter or firmer (no exercise, no massage, no laser, no liposuction) the only option is to get a TUMMY Tuck which will help to eliminate that skin top and below navel.Tummy tuck will not prevent you to have normal pregnancies or deliveries. Also will help you to wear more juvenile clothing or even a bikini.Be encouraged. Dr. Cardenas

Answer: Excess skin and fat It appears to be both excess skin and fat in the area you are concerned about. If you continue to lose weight the area will lose fat but it will still have that hanging skin appearance. I recommend an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) when you have met your weight loss goals. It doesn't hurt to schedule consultations with a couple board certified plastic surgeons early on to get an in person evaluation. Congratulations on the weight loss and good luck!

Answer: I was wondering if my stomach (upper part) were you can't see my belly button is either excess fat or loose skin? You have a common configuration wherein the upper abdomen skin forms one shelf due to loose skin and attachments to the underlying abdominal wall to the lateral aspects of the belly button. I would lose the weight you want and then consider a tummy tuck. Tummy tuck with liposuction of the sides and back would produce a nice result. Find a tummy tuck expert who performs hundreds each year and has great reviews and great before and after pictures.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Tummy-Tuck, Excess fat or lose skin? First of all thank you for the photos and congratulations on losing all that weight! The area above your navel is a bit of both. Losing more weight will certainly help, but the excess skin will remain. The truth is you are on your way on becoming a perfect candidate for a Tummy-tuck..... keep it up! A tummy-tuck will help you lose all that excess skin that is impossible to lose by diet and exercise alone. It changes the body of patients in the most dramatic way and will not prevent you from having normal pregnancies. Best Of Luck!!

Answer: Excess skin and fat Thank you for your pictures. This area above your belly button does excess skin and fat. An additional 30 pounds weight loss will most likely make this overhang worse. That is a good trade-off will better help in a more stable weight. Once you have reached your weight goal an abdominoplasty is a great solution to improve your abdominal contour.
