Is this a normal scab or a blister that will result in widened scar? (photo)

Question

I am 3 weeks post op & right breast had purple bruising, more scabbing & has a larger scab under the right nipple. 2 days ago I noticed there was a drop of blood oozing out. Doctor said to put bacitracin & bandaid once a day but it’s day 2 now & more yellow/brown stuff come with the bandaid after taking it off. Now it seems softer and like it has moist green stuff on it, in a way it looks like the scab is separating or cracking from up close. What could this b

Thanks much for reaching out. It does appear that your incision line here is scabbing just a bit. I’ll follow your doctor’s recommendations for the appointment and try not to stress about it. Likely the incision will heal nicely in the scars will fade given patience and time.I hope this helps :-)

Thanks for the question and photos.It appears to be normal healing.  Often, the triangle or "T" areas of incisions can pull apart a tiny bit due to tension.  This is one of those areas.  A scab forms, some fluid underneath the scab comes out several days to weeks later.  As long as you keep it clean and dry and the skin does not show any signs of increasing redness or new pain, you should be fine.Follow your Plastic Surgeons instructions.Best of luck.Dr T
