Is it normal to have incision pain 3 weeks post-op? I had a BA and my incisions hurt.

Thank you for your question.  In short, yes, it is very common for patients to have some pain and discomfort weeks after surgery.  If there is associated redness, warmth to the skin or increasing swelling in addition to the pain, seek the evaluation of your surgeon right away as this could indicate an infection.  If there is simply some discomfort, this can be nerve related pain.  As the nerves recover and you become more active, the pain can become a bit more noticeable.  Close follow up with your surgeon is ideal.  Have them evaluate your incisions to make sure all is well.  Best of luck.

Your incisions are not likely the source of your discomfort.  You are likely experiencing hypersensitivity of the nipples which is very normal after breast augmentation no matter which type of incision is used.  Light touch, heat or cold, or even the slightest breeze can cause the nipples to be painful.  We usually recommend using nursing pads or soft gauze within the bra to help cover and protect the nipples during the recovery process.  This hypersensitivity will likely normaliz over the next several weeks.
