It is normal for my eyelid to still be numb a week after bleph surgery?

It is possible to have eyelid (skin) numbness a week after
blepharoplasty. Tissue healing process usually takes about 12 weeks (3months to
occur). Blepharoplasty surgery requires an incision in the skin of the eyelids.
Therefore, the nerves that give the sensation to the skin are transected,
resulting in temporary numbness of the skin adjacent to the incision. As the
healing process occur, the skin nerves will heal too, and therefore numbness
will improve.

Many people will experience some numbness after any eyelid surgery. This will resolve as the inflammation subsides. As the nerve sensation returns, you may experience some itching in the lid as well. Occasionally the numbness may persist for many weeks. Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done to speed up the process.

However, sensory changes can occur with surgery. Generally how long this last depends on precisely why you have the issue in the first place. Generally sensory changes are very mild and often not noticeable. How long things take to resolve, will vary but generally sensory changes do heal after surgery and can take from a few weeks to months to full resolve. Generally if they have not full resolved by 6 to 12 months, the residual sensory loss may be permanent.

What you are describing is completely normal and most likely was reviewed with you by your surgeon pre-operatively. Sensation usually returns gradually over 3 months.
