Dear Jessgirl1,dropping of implants is part of the healing process and this occurs after the tissues surrounding the implants slowly relax, allowing the implants to settle into their final position. It can take about four to six months for the implant to drop down to their final position.I understand that you are worried about your implants are not dropping as expected. However, you are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur. If after six months, you are not satisfied with the appearance of your breast, you can visit your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
It can take up to a year for the breasts to fully drop intothe pocket and even out. Until then, you will not see the results of surgery. It is important that you are following your surgeon’s post-operative careinstructions to ensure the best results. We recommend consulting with yoursurgeon to further discuss your concerns.
Early asymmetry after breast augmentation is common. It will take time, sometimes 3-6 months, before you see the final appearance of your breasts. Therefore I recommend patience at this time. Congratulations on your recent surgery. Hope this helps!
Hello and thank you for your question. It is not uncommon for breasts to heal at a different rate. During the healing process, asymmetries may be more pronounced however, you need to allow adequate time to heal before evaluating your result. It can take up to six months, in some cases longer, for your breasts to soften, drop, and settle. I suggest that you continue following up with your surgeon as suggested to ensure your healing and recovery are on track. Best of luck with your continued recovery,
Congratulations on your recent surgery and thank you for sharing your question about your post operative recovery and results after your surgery. Final results can take 6-12 months for all the swelling to subside. At our office we actually see all of our surgery patients the very next day after surgery and then again at two weeks and beyond. We enjoy staying closely connected to our patients and enjoy giving the extra attention and service. Your concerns are important to discuss directly with your board certified plastic surgeon. He or she will appreciate the open communication and will want to help you. I hope this is helpful and wish you all the very best. Sincerely, Brian S. Coan, MD, FACS

Choosing implants is a personal process and is completely dependent on the patient’s preference. To ensure that our patients are satisfied with the implant sizes they choose, we have them try sizers on underneath t-shirts so that they know what they’ll look like after surgery. We recommend con...
