Interested in Morpheus8 for jowls. I've heard that Morpheus8 melts fat. Does this mean you shouldn't get it done under the eyes or on the cheeks? Won't it result in loss of volume and, therefore, looser/saggier skin? Thank you
Answer: Morpheus8 Microneedling Radiofrequency -- Skin Tightening, Skin Resurfacing, Textural Improvements, Crepey Skin, Pores, Scars Thank you for your question! That depends on the depth of the needles during treatment, which is why you want to go to an experienced professional. Morpheus8 provides both skin tightening and skin resurfacing improvements. The technology uses radiofrequency deep subdermal heating to effectively tighten skin and remodel the superficial texture, such as scarring and enlarged pores. Combining Morpheus8 with lasers can give both complexion and laxity improvements in one treatment, so it's an ideal add-on treatment for those who care about preventative sagging or scarring improvements. You can also add this on to liposuction or internal heating to get more improvement in the areas treated. In my practice, I find that combination approaches will give you a more significant improvement as opposed to a single procedure, including the use of medical-grade skincare which can make a significant difference in maintaining your results, such as Sente Dermal Contour Pressed Serum found at Emeragecosmetics.com. I recommend getting a consultation with a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert to develop a treatment plan that works for you. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Morpheus8: Adjustable Depth Microneedling and Radiofrequency This is a great question. The appearance of loose skin on an aging face is attributed to two factors: the skin itself loses elasticity and fat loss creates volume loss. Your concern that Morpheus8 would 'kill' fat and therefore result in looser/saggier skin is very important. Central to the Morpheus8 technology is the adjustable depth of the needles. Currently Morpheus8 can be used up to depths of 4 mm in the US. When used at increased depths of 3 or 4 mm, fat loss can occur. However, the adjustable depth of the needles allows for customized treatment plans. Where we do not want fat loss to occur, we would use depths of 1-2 mm. This delivers energy to the appropriate depths to tighten skin, without causing unwanted volume loss. I develop a customized treatment plan for each patient undergoing a Morpheus treatment, including what areas of the face and neck will be treated with what depths and at what energies, thus resulting in an optimal result for that particular patient. Please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to assess you candidacy for this procedure.
