Ozempic (semaglutide) is a medication used for weight loss and to manage type 2 diabetes. It works by mimicking a hormone in your body that causes feelings of fullness, which can lead to reduced calorie intake and weight loss. However, the weight loss from Ozempic is generally distributed throughout the body and is not targeted to specific areas. After a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), the body will naturally reabsorb some of the transferred fat cells, but many will remain and provide long-term volume. Weight fluctuations can impact the size of these remaining fat cells, potentially affecting the size of your buttocks. If you lose weight after your BBL, including through the use of medications like Ozempic, it's possible that you may notice a reduction in the size of your buttocks. However, this varies from person to person and depends on where your body typically loses fat from first.
If you start taking semaglutide you will lose fat all over, potentially even from your BBL. There isn't really any way to avoid this, just go slow, but you may end up needing another BBL if you lose a ton of weight.
If you lost weight after a BBL procedure through Ozempic or lifestyle changes, you will certainly lose some of your buttock size/projection. The newly transferred fat cells in your buttock will shrink in size, as they would anywhere else on your body with weight loss. Your overall shape should remain fairly consistent (the proportion) but the size will definitely go down with weight/fat loss.I hope this helps.Best wishes,Dr.Bruno
Hi, and thank you for your question. Semaglutide is not specific to one area of fat loss. Although we wish we could choose where we lose fat, it can come from multiple areas. With healthy eating and a good exercise routine, you can still maintain muscle mass if trained properly. However, you may still lose fat that was placed from the BBL and lose volume over time. I would recommend starting an exercise routine or seeing a personal trainer for specific goals you would like to attain, and consult a healthcare provider for further recommendations.
Transferred fat cells are just like all other fat cells meaning they will grow or shrink with weight gain or loss. If you lose significant weight it could impact the results of your surgery. I encourage you to speak to your surgeon about your concerns.
Weight loss after BBL will likely results in loss of some if not all of your buttock volume. I typically recommend that patients schedule their BBL when they are close to their ideal weight. If you lose significant fat volume in your buttock, you can have another BBL or seek non-surgical options such as Sculptra injection to restore any lost volume. Another option is to have additional liposuction in areas that are bothering you so you can avoid further weight loss.
Weight loss injections decrease body fat overall and cannot be targeted to one specific area. It is likely you will lose some projection.
Any weight loss after a BBL can lead to volume loss at your buttocks. It is best to lose weight before surgery and be at your goal weight before the fat transfer.
"Thank you for sharing your question. After 360 lipo and BBL, the fat cells transferred to your buttocks are there to stay. However, if you lose weight, there can be some volume reduction, since these cells can shrink. Starting Ozempic (semaglutide), a medication for weight loss and diabetes, might contribute to overall weight loss. It's possible to experience some decrease in your booty projection. Always consult with your surgeon and a medical doctor to discuss potential effects on your results."
Most people would like to target abdominal fat, but when we lose weight it happens with diet and exercise. There is research that can evidence it is not possible to lose weight on one single area in the body. Losing weight causes a gradual reduction in overall body fat, meaning the fat you got transferred might get reduced but not back to your before.
