Manual reset of broken nose?

Hi, I broke my nose four weeks ago and it looks crooked. My doctor said that although my bones started to heal allready, he thinks it would be better to try to reset the bones in my nose manually then to have complex operation after. So Im going to have manual realignment next week which will be five weeks from accident. Im little bit scared of that surgery. Do you think it is safe to do manual reset after five weeks when the bones started to heal? Do you think its smart and healthy?

Typically, nasal bones heal 7-10 days after a fracture.For this reason, we prefer doing closed nasal reduction within this time period.After 5 weeks, the bones will be well healed.In order to reduce a displaced fracture, osteotomie (cuts on the bone) will have to be done.Good luck.Dr. G

A nasal fracture can be repaired at any time after the injury to repair a crooked nose. Osteotomies of the nasal bones are required  to straighten them. Cartilage spreader grafts are required to be placed underneath the concave lateral cartilage in the mid vault area creating asymmetry in that area. Sometimes a tip rhinoplasty is required to straighten an asymmetrical  and  crooked tip.
