Congestion after Rhinoplasty normal or not?

I had rhinoplasty 5 months ago, ever since my nose always has mucus and feels stuffy like if I have a cold. Is this normal at this stage? I was told I have thick skin if that has anything to do with this problem.

It is likely that there is still swelling after the rhinoplasty, but sometimes breathing can be compromised after surgery.  Relay your concerns to your surgeon who will be able to examine you and create a plan tailored to your individual needs.  Best wishes!

Depending on what was performed during your Rhinoplasty, the feeling of congestion may be normal at this point. Narrowing of the bones, and/or narrowing the tip can contribute to this nasal congestion and may take many months to resolve. If this becomes a long-standing problem for you I would address this with your surgeon who should be following you for one year or more. In the interim, nasal saline irrigations (Neti-Pot or NeilMed Sinus Rinse) performed daily can be very helpful in breaking up the mucus and relieving some of the congestion.

This is not an unlikely feeling after rhinoplasty surgery.  As my colleague suggested you may want to use a saline nasal spray or a neti pot to help clear your nasal passage. It is not unusual for this feeling, but be sure to discuss this with your surgeon.  I suggest a saline nasal spray or neti-pot to rinse and clean the nasal passage.
