Can fractional CO2 laser be used on small areas?

Specifically, I am wanting to tighten my jowl area and avoid treating the whole face. I know this will limit the effect somewhat but are there other issues with using the device in this discrete way? Many thanks.

The CO2 laser works best when the entire area of concern is treated together.  It's difficult to spot treat with this type of laser. Another laser may be more suitable to treat smaller areas. It is best to consult with a board-certified laser expert.

Yes C02 lasers can be used in small areas like the jowls, however it is often preferred to treat areas that need treatment the most to be treated with more aggressive treatments then feather the rest of the face so that there is no visible demarcation during the healing period.

Fractional CO2 lasers can be used on the entire face or just parts of it.  CO2 lasers have most of their effect on the surface of the skin, so if you are looking to tighten your jowl area you might consider Ultherapy if you are looking for a non-surgical option.  The surgical option would generally be a facelift.
