The donor site, where the cartilage was harvested will be weaker, since tissue has been removed. Many rhinoplasty surgeons will place unused cartilage back to the donor site at the end of the case, and perform a layered closure. The perichondrium and the returned cartilage will heal enhance the healing process and the regeneration of the defect will take place. It will take time.
