I apologize if my question was a bit broad. I always wanted a rhinoplasty. Something that is scarless. My main concern is my wide nose. It gives me a bird beak appearance. Lol I'm afraid asking for a wrong procedure (like close or open rhinoplasty) would close my airway and I end up sounding congested. I'm not sure what type of nose I have besides it being wide (in my opinion). Would anyone give me their opinions on what procedure I should look into before I get an initial evaluation?
Answer: Open Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Just to clarify, if you're interested in improving your nasal tip which you're viewing as the main component of your "wide nose," this is a common complaint and something that can definitely be addressed with surgery. Many people complain that their nasal tip is too "bulbous" or "boxy" and that they would like it to be smaller, cuter, more defined, or more feminine. An open rhinoplasty can best address the entire nose, and is particularly effective for addressing a bulbous, boxy, or asymmetric nasal tip. It is also very effective for performing complex, precise maneuvers to refine the nasal shape and size to a particular aesthetic and look. Rhinoplasty is arguably the most difficult procedure to perform in all of plastic surgery. That said, I would recommend only going to see a surgeon who feels very comfortable with both primary and revision rhinoplasty procedures, and who has significant training and experience in these types of surgeries. This is a surgery of millimeters, so if the surgeon you're going to only does 1-2 per month, you are not going to get the best result possible. Of course it is always difficult to provide tentative surgical recommendations, as there is only so much information to be gained from the photos provided. I recommend for you to come see me or another plastic surgeon comfortable with rhinoplasty procedures for a formal consultation to thoroughly discuss your surgical goals, undergo a formal examination, evaluate all your options (surgical and nonsurgical), and decide on the best procedure(s) for your specific case. I hope this helps! Best wishes, Dr. Donald Groves Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Closed rhinoplasty Hello from Istanbul! I would prefer a closed rhinoplasty for your type of nose. In rhinoplasties where the nose is not too traumatic and in rhinoplasties that are not revision surgeries, achieving the desired outcome is feasible with closed rhinoplasty. Whether open or closed, the procedure performed inside the nose is essentially the same; there's no technical difference. However, since the incisions in closed rhinoplasty are made inside the nose, there are no externally visible scars. Best of luck!

Answer: Rhino approach The type of rhinoplasty is often dependent on the surgeon and what works best for them. Depending on your desired appearance, the needed surgical maneuvers can be determine. Neither technique would / should case nasal blockage, but it is important to go to a surgeon who understands the techniques and approaches that not only favorably change the shape of the nose but also retain ability to breathe from the nose.

Answer: Nasal reshaping... Based on your photos, you are a great candidate for rhinoplasty. This would be primarily on the tip to narrow and refine it. The bridge can be brought down a bit as well. The best thing to do is to go in and talk to at least two rhinoplasty specialists who can do computer imaging at the same time. Then you will develop a good feel for what can be done and what will look good.
