How to reduce width of nose (especially when I smile)? (Photo)

Question

My nose is pretty wide with a bulbous tip. It becomes even wider when I smile - my main concern. Photos of neutral and when smiling attached. Also photos from side and below. Many thanks for any comments.

Thank you for your question. You are correct with your description. In addition, you have a deviated septum. A rhinoplasty can narrow your nose, give you more tip support, and straighten your septum. Typically we evaluate you in the neutral position, as all of our noses widen with a smile.You should see a surgeon who can computer image you to show you what is realistic to expect, based upon your anatomy.Best wishes.

Thank you for your question.To narrow a wide nose at the alar base requires an alartomy. To narrow wide nasal bones requires lateral osteotomies. To correct a bulbous tip requires the resection of cartilage from the lower lateral cartilages and the use of sutures; this however can have a limited effect if the skin over the nasal tip is thick.Your best option is to have a consultation with a board certified Plastic Surgeon.Best wishes.

A rhinoplasty procedure can accomplish narrowing a wide know. To narrow wide nostrils requires an alar-plasty. To narrow wide nasal bones requires osteotomies. The width of your nose can be corrected by thinning your nasal alas, defining your nasal tip and nasal bridge. You also have a dorsal hump and a deviated septum, and all this can be easily fixed with a rhinoplasty. The nose will always get a little wider when you smile even after the surgery, but if we correct all this issues, it will look better than before. Hope this answers your question.
