Hi Doctors, i had an eyebrow transplant around 3-4 weeks ago and i have been noticing my eyebrow hair falling out. It looks a lot thinner than before and so i was unsure if this was normal? What is your professional opinion of my condition so far? Thank you for looking.
Answer: Eyebrow Transplant Gone Wrong We always recommend our patients thoroughly research hair transplants (whether for the scalp or face) before getting the procedure done. This is because the hair transplant and hair growth process can be complicated, but being informed can help you know what to expect. There is a period of hair shedding following hair transplantation. After that, the hair cycles through the growth phase. The time it takes to cycle through the phase differs for everyone. We expect to see the full results of hair transplantation 6 month - 1 year post-op. That being said, there are other reasons hair could fall out after transplantation, such as, shock hair loss and failed graft survival. Unfortunately, you won't know what the cause is until the hair begins (or doesn't begin) growing in. Shock loss and failed graft survival are common among inexperienced hair surgeons, but in general, normal shedding is the cause.

Answer: Eyebrow Transplant It can take up to 6 months to a year for you to notice any regrowth and the final stage of hair growth after a hair transplantation. I'd advise to voice your concerns with the surgeon who placed the grafts and get their opinion. It is very normal for hair to be shedding, the new growth of hair will cause the shedding which is normal. I see this is your second Post, Like I recommend before I'd voice your questions and concerns to the surgeon who performed your hair restoration. Best,Dr. Anil Shah, MD FACS

Answer: Dormant transplanted eyebrows In any hair transplant, the transplanted hair will fall out, enter a period of sleep when it doesn't grow for a few months, then wakes up again and begins to grow just like it did before the transplant. I suspect that this is what is taking place based on the information in your question.Remember that with any hair transplant, to include eyebrow and beard, you will not see the full results until eight to twelve months after the surgery.

Answer: What you are experiencing is normal Hair transplantation to the brows or scalp involves harvesting of single hair follicles and placing them in an orientation that looks natural. In the first 48 hours scabbing and a small amount of fat associated with the follicle is visible. In the first 3-4 weeks the new brow hair looks like a new brow. Unfortunately, the new transplants then go into dormancy for 3 months or so. Your final brow enhancement won't be grown in for 6- 12 months. Be patient - you are going to look great !
