Should I wear a compression vest for 6 months after only undergoing liposuction?

CristianoPlastic surgeons usually differ somewhat about postop care, but 6 months sounds like a long time for the elastic vest. I usually ask my patients to wear it for 2-3 weeks after lipo for Gynecomastia, and then I recommend they wear a snug fitting elastic T shirt, which is more comfortable. I recommend my patients wear their garments for a minimum of 3 weeks if not a lot of redundant skin following liposuction male breast reduction to a maximum of 6 weeks. To be effective the garment needs to fit snug but not too tight as to cause pressure problems (inspect your skin if discomfort and when skin is exposed), or prevent you from sleeping. I seriously doubt compressive garments have any long-term effect on the outcome of liposuction. In my own practice I asked patients to wear them for a few weeks. In the early aftermath of surgery they provide comfort. In any event you should follow the directions of your own surgeon.
