I agree with Dr. Weber. Even though Voluma is not that moldable after injection, experience has shown me that it can still be compressed somewhat with pressure for the first few days. I thus ask all my Voluma patients to not sleep on their side for two to three days so as not to compress the results and the youthful contours that we so carefully achieved. By having 2-3 pillows, that helps prevent swelling but also makes it easier to stay on one's back and not turn to one's side.Hope this is useful, Dr. Anna PetropoulosFacial Plastic SurgeonBoston's North Shore
So the answer is a qualified "no". However, we know that if you sleep consistently on one side, over a lifetime, you may see a deeper nasolabial fold (on the preferred sleeping side). Therefore, try sleeping on both the right and left side to balance out the facial aging process.
It is possible to mold the voluma after initial injection, but only for short periods of time. try to sleep on your back the first night, and then beyond that you should be fine.
After injection there is a short period of time that Voluma can be molded, even that is a very slight amount. Doubt that you can reshape Voluma by sleeping on it after the first night. It is relatively thick and is meant to be injected deep in the tissues.
Thank you for sharing your question. Because of Voluma's gel thickness it is unlikely to be compressed or displaced to affect your outcome after a couple of hours from treatment. On the night of treatment I normally ask patients to sleep with their head upright using a couple of extra pillows behind their back to minimize swelling. Hope this helps.
If you are unhappy you can add more or reverse the filler. Sleeping on one side will not affect the long term outcome. Best, Dr. Emer.
Possibly.A very hard compression done immediately after injection could mold a bolus of voluma filler flatter.Of recent note is studies are showing that sleeping position does cause certain wrinkles or sleep wrinkles from folding the skin.
The Voluma is placed is placed fairly deep and there probably isn't enough pressure from side sleeping to a adversely affect your results. However, I always prefer to err on the side of caution so I'd suggest that you sleep on your back with pillows on either side of your head for the first couple of nights. Kindly,Kouros Azar
Hi,Great question! Voluma is placed fairly deep but there is still several days after placement where it can be compressed with pressure. I ask that my patients sleep flat with pillows to bolster their sides for the first two days after Voluma placement.Warmly,Dr. Liu
This is very unlikely to happen after Voluma injections. The product is slightly moldable during the first 2-3 days after injection and then becomes well integrated. Even during that early period it is difficult to move the product around to any appreciable degree. Best.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon
Whether or not Voluma migrates will depend on injector technique and location of injection. Voluma is meant to be injected deep in the subQ space or just above the bone. In my experience I have not had problems with Voluma migration. However, I have treated patients who have had too much...
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately there is no set dosing schedule between hyaluronidase and the hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers. I have found good results with using between 15-20 units of Vitrase for every tenth of a cc of filler deposited per treatment session. Hope this helps.
Hyaluronidase has no impact on normal skin. The enzyme only targets and breaks down the HA fillers used and does not damage skin. I suggest you compare before and after photos and speak to a very well trained cosmetic physician. Fillers and skin tightening can be used to improve your aging....
Water pills or diuretics will not have any effect on results of Voluma or Sculptra. Allow 10-14 days to see optimal results of Voluma and 6-8 weeks for first time Sculptra treatment. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question in regards to Voluma. Swelling and bruising are very common after filler injections. It can take up to two weeks for it to subside and have total corrections. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete ev...
Thanks for posting your question. I have seen a handful of patients develop this redness after injection. In each case, the patient had very sensitive skin--the type that reacts to any manipulation. With some icing and Benadryl the redness resolved within a day or two. If this is how you wo...
