I hate that when I have my mouth close it makes it look like I'm frowing. Very awkward
Answer: Botox for the Chin I usually use 5 units in the mentalis muscle to soften the dimpling in the chin skin. I would recommend doing this first, and then consider jawline augmentation if you are still unhappy with the contour of your jawline. This could be done with fillers if you don't want to have surgery.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Botox for the Chin The mentalis muscle which contributes to this appearance of the overlying skin can be weakened with Botox. Depending on the patient this can be anywhere from 5-10 units, and with repeated injections over time this will help weaken the muscle slightly.

Answer: Jaw line evaluation Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. 5U of botox can be injected into the mentalis muscle for a nice result in some patients. There may be better ways to augment and refine your jaw line which could be determined during your consultation. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Botox for chin Thank you for your question. Botox can be injected into the mentalis muscle to help improve a cobblestone appearance (peau d’orange). This typically takes 4-6 units of Botox. I recommend having a consultation with an expert to determine the best treatment plan for you. Best of Luck!

Answer: Chin concerns There is usually a reason for why people get a dimpled look in their chin. Sometimes, it is due to the structure of your jawline and dental anatomy- especially if you find that it takes some "effort" to close your mouth (people like this tend to be more comfortable with their mouths open, at rest.) If there's a structural issue here, then even if you "relax" the chin muscles (aka mentalis) with Botox (6-10 units), that won't necessarily fix the problem! It's easy to do, but not necessarily what you need. The profile may still bother you. It would be helpful to see a photo of you smiling with your mouth open. Filler may be more helpful to build up the chin area; or a plastic surgeon may recommend a chin implant. Be well and good luck. - Estee Williams MD
