If I have capsular contractor, why is one suddenly squishy?

Thanks for your question. An Implant that is contracted is usually firm and hard. What you are describing sounds like a leaking saline implant. If you have saline and one is deflated or partially deflated you can ask your PS to deflate the other side until you are ready to have them both replaced.Best wishes.

A sudden softening or “squishiness” of your saline implant MAY represent a deflation. Please see your original surgeon or a board certified plastic surgeon in you area for an in-person assessment. 

I am sorry but in order to evaluate you and suggest what might be appropriate, you would have to be seen in person.  Softness and mobility are not usually associated with a capsular contracture.

Thanks for the question.  More than likely you have experienced a partial deflation due to a leak that could be due to tear of the silicone shell of the saline implant or a defect of the valve which is allowing saline to leak.  The saline will not harm you and will be reabsorbed by your body.  If the saline continues to leak, you will notice that breast becoming smaller and more "squishy" than it is now.  I do not know the brand of your implants but there should be a lifetime warranty to cover rupture which will help with your cost of replacement.  I hope this helps and best of luck!

Thank you for your question. What you are describing is most likely a deflation of the implant. If the implant was firm (hard) with capsular contracture and suddenly became soft, it is likely that the saline implant has rupture/deflated. The saline will be absorbed by your body as it is physiologic. You will likely notice the effected side will be smaller and will appear collapsed. It is not an emergency to have them replaced, but you will notice the asymmetry if you have't already. Best wishes,Dr. Morrissey
