Breast cone like shape after breast augmentation. Areola very puffy and pointy only after BA. Will it flatten out?

Breast lift done 4 years ago. Breast augmentation (240 ccs round moderate) 3 days ago. Immediately after BA, noticed right areola very swollen and protruding resulting in breast looking cone like. Areola on left breast was removed during BA to place it more in center. Right areola was not removed. Both were very even on breast prior to BA (neither was protruding forward). I do not have edema. What could have caused this awful cone-like breast? Will the areola flatten out like before BA?

Dear VeryUpset123,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast augmentation surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process at 3 days  post op.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues around the implants are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides and the implants drop to their final position, you will be able to see the final result of your breast augmentation surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD

Thanks for your question. After breast lift and breast like mentation having a puffy areola is not uncommon. It is often due to the suture material placed around the areola during the surgery. I suggest that you see your plastic surgeon or get a second opinion with a full physical examination to determine the cause of your issues.Have a wonderful day, Dr. Aldo

Without posting before and the early after photos very hard to advise. Best to allow at least 30 days healing time or seek in person second opinions after 2 weeks. Did you call your surgeon to express concerns?
