My nose shows very little definition and a bulbous tip. The bridge as a result seems flat and under projected. Can I still expect more healing, of is this close to a final result? Dr. performed open rhino with septoplasty, dorsal hump removal, and sectioning of the bones as well as collumella reduction. He said he reduced the tip projection only a tiny bit.
Answer: Rhinoplasty recovery Hi,It is important for you to maintain very close follow up with your surgeon. The supratip area is definitely still swollen and may benefit from an anti-inflammation injection (kenalog/5-FU). A pollybeak can result from under resection of cartilage in the supratip area (will not resolve with time) or from swelling and scarring in the supratip area (will improve with serial injections and time). Again, maintain close follow up with your surgeon.Best,

Answer: Is the tip of my nose still swollen 5 months after rhino, or is it a Polly beak deformity? The lower third of your nose will hold onto swelling for an entire year. The diagnosis of a 'polybeak' would require an examination. If you have residual supratip swelling, you can ask your surgeon whether a dilute steroid injection may be beneficial for you. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

Answer: Post op tip fullness First, the shape of the nose is the shape of the architecture. It appears that your dorsum is a little too low. Your supra tip is too full. You are under projected and I think you need reprojection with an onlay tip graft. There is no frontal view. At 5 months post op, most of your swelling is down. But the tip may be the last structure to resolve swelling so you may be a candidate for a steroid injection. Sounds like you need to talk to your surgeon.

Answer: Nasal tip still swollen? Hello, and thanks for your question. At 5 months postop, you certainly still have some residual swelling in the tip of the nose. Although a lot of the swelling resolves by about 6 weeks postop, the rest of the swelling takes about a year to resolve, and the tip holds on to the swelling the longest. For now, the best thing to do is be patient and keep in touch with your surgeon. You cannot really judge the final result until about a year postop. All the best.

Answer: Tip swelling after rhinoplasty Typically, the initial swelling after nose surgery subsides within two to three weeks. However, residual swelling, especially in the tip of the nose, can take about a year to resolve as the contour refines. Swelling can also vary through the day, being more prominent in the morning. Try and be patient as your nose continues to heal.
