10 yrs post op Silicone Breast Implant, I have this smell under my breasts. Is this normal?

My silicone implants (through the nipple) are ten years old and I know that they don't last forever so I've been thinking about removing them without replacement, which I cannot afford. I know what my body odor smells like but the smell that's coming from under my breasts is disgusting. I am going through menopause after a hysterectomy over a year ago but this happened even before then. I'm scared that there is leakage and that's the reason for the smell?

Try to find other origin for such odo, maybe fungal infection like candidiasis? seek the opinion of your GP or Dermatologist.Lifetime of implant is not forever, true, but sometimes much more than 10 yrs, do consult with an experienced surgeon and with his hands he'll tell you if he finds them aged or young; in doubtful cases MRI is indicted.

Its unlikely that your implants are causing your body odour, even if they have ruptured.  It would be best to schedule a consultation with your plastic surgeon for a comprehensive consultation.

While it is possible for silicone implants to rupture and leak, your odor is NOT coming from your implants.  If there are no other problems with your implants, why should you replace them?

You would need to be seen in person by our doctor to be properly evaluated.  Is the smell from drainage from an incision?

I do not think that leaking silicone implants would necessarily cause an odor. You should schedule a consultation with your surgeon or another board certified plastic surgeon for an examination. If there is suspicion that your implants may be ruptured they may order an MRI to investigate this further.
