Renuva for breast reconstruction ripples: I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction.

Question

I am thin with very little fat. I would love to fill in some of the implant rippling with fat but don’t want lipo. Would renuva be able to give me the same results as fat transfer? Would it be able to add volume as well? Does this stimulate my body to produce its own fat and become permanent after initial partial resorption

Firstly, I want to say that I'm very happy to hear that you are now in remission. I know how much you have been through to get to this point. In terms of your breast rippling, Renuva is very effective in smoothing the rippling you describe. For you, it’s even better – because you don't have enough body fat to do fat grafting, plus the treatment requires no anesthesia and is done right in the office.

Once Renuva is injected, your body uses the proteins, growth factors and collagens in the Renuva to build fat cells. As the Renuva is slowly eliminated by your body, your own fat cells will be living in the area where the Renuva was injected. Since the fat is yours, it feels and functions like any fat cell – which research shows can last up to 10 years or more.

Thank you for your question. Renuva would be a great alternative to fat if you do not want liposuction or simply do not have enough fat to transfer. Currently Renuva is packaged in 1.5cc, 3cc and 5 cc syringes. which is smaller than the volume required to change cup sizes. However, Renuva is great for small tissue defects such as rippling which you are concerned about. You are correct in say that Renuva helps stimulate the body to produce fat in the specific area Renuva is injected. Be sure to discuss your procedural plan with a board certified plastic surgeon.

Hello. Thank you for your question. I have not heard of anyone using just Renuva inplace of fat grafting to the breasts. I also do not know the implications of what Renuva will look like on Imaging such as mammogram, MRI and Ultrasound.

Without looking at pictures it is not possible to give you and opinion on what needs to be done. 
You may want to consider switching to a highly cohesive gel implant that may improve the appearance of rippling.

Please follow up with the plastic surgeon who performed your procedure for an examination.

Renuva is ideal for correcting irregularities caused by breast reconstruction. 
Since Renuva is eventually replaced with your body's own fat, it's a great option for small volume corrections, like smoothing rippling and indentations.
