Did I make a poor, impulsive choice letting myself get injected with Sculptra by an RN?

RNs are qualified to perform injectables. Some are better than doctors. It’s not about what degree they hold, it’s about how much experience they have doing injections. A good Injector will have no problem explaining a procedure to you and then performing it on you. A great one will have no problem with you seeking care elsewhere. He or she knows you’ll be back. Sculptra is different from most fillers in that produces  your own collagen and lasts a lot longer than traditional hyaluronic fillers.  Because of this placement is even more important and cannot be reversed.  You should contact a board certified dermatologist for this type of cosmetic injection and just ask the clinic to give you a credit towards something else.  Best, Dr. Green

The experience level and typical results by the injector is more important to determine the best injectors, rather than the actual initials behind the name. In some offices, the RN may be more experienced than the MD and gets better results. You should be able to determine over time how your results are looking. If you still have qualms, ask to see photos of actual patients who had Sculptra placed by your RN injector so you can determine your satisfaction with her results before having your second round placed.
