Garments should be tight.  I suggest hyperbaric oxygen, massage and radiofrequency treatments after liposuction to speed the healing process. Best, Dr. Emer.

Hello!Your compression garment should be firm but not overly tight. It is doubtful that the garment caused more bruising. You should definitely not feel uncomfortable. The purpose of the girdle is to optimize healing, reduce bruising and swelling more expeditiously, and to aid in contouring of the final result. Garments are not mandatory but tend to help speed up the result. If the girdle is hurting and not helping, you should discuss with your plastic surgeon to see what he/she says.Good luck!

It is generally normal for bruising to peak about 5 to 7 days after surgery but you should check in with your plastic surgeon to make sure you are not wearing a garment that is too tight.  Swelling can also fluctuate, especially this early on, especially with increased activity and salt intake. 

I recommend to my patients garments that fit and are not constricting. This can cause damage to the skin and soft tissues.

your question and provided information as well.. After liposuction your body is
going to be really swollen for at least 2 to 4 months after your surgery. It is
important for you to wear your compression garment for at least 6 months, the
first 3 months 24/7 and then the last 3 months at least 12 hours per day for
your body get use to not having the faja for so many time. When you remove it,
your body can get swollen and also you can have pain. Remember to also compress
your body to prevent a seroma which is an accumulation of liquid that has to be
drained, it is hard to touch and also really painful. Bruises are completely
normal for almost 3 months from surgery, that’s why is better for you to use a
bruising cream and apply it all over your body 3 times a day. To prevent bad
circulation and swollen legs, use compression socks. Hugs!
