Can massage cupping be used after coolsculpting?

Question

Can massage cupping (by a trained massage therapist) help with the post treatment process of reducing the swelling and helping the body to clear the dead cells via the lymph system? How soon afterwards could it be used?

I'm not familiar with any studies examining cupping after CoolSculpting. Manual lymphatic massage has been shown to be helpful in improving comfort and uniformity of the treated area's appearance. Better yet is the Zimmer W-Wave radial pulsed therapy, which can improve CoolSculpting results over massage by about 50%. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who has been certified as a CoolSculpting practitioner to get optimal results.

There have been no studies done to show whether or not massage cupping will be helpful after Coolsculpting treatment.  The treatment most physicians use after Coolsculpting is the Zimmer Z Wave as it believed to increase results. there are no studies to support this, it will probably help to a MINOR degree. It is probably not worth the added expense. The one proven treatment after Coolsculpting to enhance your results and recovery is Zimmer Z Wave. This send acoustic pulsed waves into the treated area and leads to an increase of 65-100% more results. We do it after all Coolsculpting procedures at no additional charge. It can be done on a weekly basis afterwards and this may lead to further improvements.

Thank you for your question. Massaging the treatment area right after the removal of the Coolsculpting applicator is very important for optimal outcome. However, additional massage is not necessary. Adding the Zimmer Z wave to Coolsculping and weekly Zimmer treatments after for a few weeks has been proven to help with swelling, discomfort, better and faster results. I hope this help. I don't see any benefit other than the normal massage that is performed after Coolsculpting to help expedite the process.  Coolsculpting is an amazing process and the post massage is very important.  However, additional cupping massage is of no benefit.  Best, Dr. Green
