Scars that exhibit inflammation, hypertrophy, or keloid reaction can be managed with our HIDEF protocols. Surgery is not often necessary as we have a full laser and RF protocol. Treatments begin with examination of the scars followed by pretreatment with Melarase creams for pigmentation, Plato's Scar Serum for hypertrophy, followed by laser and RF protocols with PDL, RF, and microfractional RF or laser. Kenalog IIT is also very important. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianRealself100 Surgeon
lizzyB. So sorry that you are a keloid former but the good news is that very small incisions are needed for liposuction and they can be placed in locations to camouflage them, and precautions can be taken to decrease severity of scarring, even in keloid formers. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!
Hello and thank you for your question. Thebest advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Yes, it is certainly possible to have liposuction even if you are prone to keloids. The small port incisions can be hidden below your bikini line. Make sure you specifically lookat before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgeryperformed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The mostimportant aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommendthat you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon whocan evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D.Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
I would advice you to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to be assessed in person. First, it needs to be determined if you actually keloid. Then, you'll need to decide if the risk is worth it. The incisions for liposuction are quite small and can typically be camouflaged but it will depend on the area being treated. Hope this helps.
You would have to be evaluated to make sure you actually form keloids. If you do, then you might develop one at the lipo incision sites.
Step one is to evaluate whether what you refer to as a keloid is that, rather than scar hypertrophy. True keloids can be problematic and may militate against surgery. Regardless of whether the scars can be hidden within the panty line, keloids do grow and can create lifelong problems.
