When should I do my Second Jawline Botox Treatment?

If you had Botox to slim your face and contour your jawline, there are a few factors that determine when to get the next dose.  I usually recommend anywhere from 25-50 units of Botox per side of the masseter.  My patients usually come back around 6 months later for their second dose.  You may have had fewer units, if you are not seeing the response you are looking for.  I would suggest talking to your doctor and finding out how much you had.

Sometimes it takes 1-3 months to see the muscles of the jaw atrophy.  You can schedule another session 3 months from your last visit.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  In general Botox treatment into the masseter muscles does take several weeks to show a slimming effect.  As opposed to wrinkles where paralysis of the muscle starts within 3-5 days of treatment, atrophy of the masseters takes longer.  I would allow at least 4-6 weeks to pass before considering additional treatment.  Most masseter injections require 20-50 units per side.  Hope this helps.

Jawline botox can take several treatments over a years time to see the results.  You need to go back for routine injections every 4 months or so.

Since you are talking about slimming, I imagine you are referring to injection of the masseters (the muscles you use to clench your jaw). I generally use 20 to 40 units per side, depending on how bulky the muscles are to begin with. It takes a few months after injection for the muscles to start to atrophy significantly (shrink from being weakened and less active). I generally re-treat at 4-6 months and it may take a couple treatments to get to the full desired effect.
Injections can also be performed along the jawline to affect the shape of the chin, decrease jowls, decrease angling down of the corners of the mouth and improve the neck (often the platysma muscle in the neck is also injected, the Nefertiti neck-lift). In this case, effects should be ween within two weeks. These injections may be combined with fillers in the cheek area for lift, along the jawline to soften indentations between the chin and jowls, and in the marionette lines, between the lips and chin. Another alternative is skin tightening to restore more youthful contours by decreasing sagging. For this I use Fractora, fractional radiofrequency treatment.

facial expression. It is difficult to make an assessment without photographs. Full results are seen by 2 weeks. At that point more can be added if necessary. Most people enjoy their results for 3-4 months. At that time a maintenance treatment is recommended. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!

I am not sure where you were injected. If the masseter you need a larger dose and wait 2 months between if you were injected at themandibular line 2 weeks should be a repeat
