1,100 grafts placed between both temples and front of hairline. 2 months postop I started to get some large, puss-filled pimples on scalp, a few of them had little hairs come out when I popped them. A week later I noticed baby hairs starting to grow in from the transplants. Starting two weeks ago, my hair has been falling out like crazy, I checked transplanted areas and now the hair surrounding the transplants is WAY thinner and looks like Im balding. Its worse than it ever was! whats going on?

Answer: Shock Loss Shock loss is due to the loss of normal hair whether it is from donor site or recipient area. It can occur with both FUE and strip procedures. Usually if it occurs, it will take place in the recipient area. Shock loss from hair transplant can occur due to the following: Anesthesia- excessively long procedures taking longer than 12 hours can make shock loss more likely. The repeated use of lidocaine, marcaine, and perhaps most importantly, epinephrine can affect nourishment of the hair.Traumatic harvest- In strip surgery, traumatic harvest can cause shock loss. Recipient area trauma- during the incision making process the hairs are either crushed or cut and damaged during the process. Ways to minimize shock loss are as follows: Enhance the recipient’s bed and donor area environment. Make your recipient environment better by the addition of growth factors and/or PRP to help reduce the extent of shock loss to native hairs. The use of Rogaine and Propecia can help shortened hair become more stable and less likely to fall out during procedure.9xRobotArtas- The latest version of the robot can make recipient sites and can determine angle of existing hair and help ensure that the angle will not damage existing hair. This is especially helpful in patients where you are transplanting hair to create density.Minimize anesthesia time and procedure time- We limit number of grafts to a safe number per session. Extended periods of anesthesia and harvest times can increase patients chances of having shock loss. The 9x Robot harvests between 1000-1500 grafts per hour making it superior to previous additions and traditional FUE approaches.Best, Anil Shah

Answer: It is not uncommon to experience some thinning after the hair transplant at the 3 month mark. It is not uncommon to experience some thinning after the hair transplant at the 3 month mark. This can be caused by the loss of the hair shafts that were transplanted as well as some loss of native hair. The grafts should start to grow over the next month or two as well as likely regrowth of the native hair in these same areas. I would schedule a follow up meeting with your surgeon at the five month mark for an evaluation and to discuss possible medical treatment if necessary.

Answer: 3 months after FUT, shock loss Transplanted graft’s hair starts to shedding in the first week of surgery and may go on untill 4-6 th weeks after surgery. İt is not surprising to lost approx. %70-80 of all transplanted hair shafts in first month when you are washing, gently rubbing or touching the head. İt is shock loss and not permanent. Even your native hair may affected with that post traumatic transient hair loss…New hair at transplant and donor area starts to grow at 3-4 th month after surgery .Regrowing hair is thin, undersized and not bright untill 4-5 th months of hair transplant. İt's normal for new growing hair starting to get native characteristics, waviness, curl in first 4-5 months..This actually takes 10-13 months for hair to become full mature , as thick and bright as native hair.

Answer: Problems after hair transplant The type of problems you are describing, infection and the treatment that follows, can cause hair loss. The good news is that in most women, this hair loss reverses, something that does not always happen with men. Work on the relationship with your surgeon as that is the best route for you.
