Fraxel repair redness won't go away? (photo)

Question

I had fraxel repair done on my mid forehead scar on March 13. It's now June 17 and it's still red. What should I do? Ive heard about V-Beam but are there any topicals that could help lessen the redness?

Thank you for your question and photo. Unfortunately, it is difficult for me to make a full assessment from a single image. It is possible you are still recovering from your treatment, depending on the depth of the procedure and the sensitivity of your skin. I encourage you to schedule a follow-up with your provider for an in-person evaluation. At that time, your provider can determine whether the effects will subside on their own or if you need additional treatment to minimize the appearance of post-treatment scarring.

I would recommend Bionect healing gel (Rx), sunscreen at all times, and possible silicon gel if it looks like a scar. It is not possible to tell from the photos. If there is any irritation or flaking, then over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream may help. The best advice is to speak to your doctor and have this checked in person. There are many great options. Best!

Firstly I would consult your Specialist who performed this procedure. It can take up to 5 months for redness following CO2 to settle The treatment level ie. number of passes and energy settings are important. SPF is vital. Regardless, the redness can be treated with vascular lasers including Excel V and the V Beam Pulse Dye laser. All the best, Dr Davin Lim. Brisbane. Australia.
