While I don't think skiing would actually un-do the benefits of a Fraxel Re:Store treatment, it is not a good idea to expose yourself to intense reflected light (such as that from the snow) so soon after Fraxel. Even though Re:Store is a gentle laser, your skin will be more sensitive than normal and more easily damaged and/or irritated by such elements as sun, wind, and dry air. Enjoy your vacation, wear plenty of sun screen and emollients, and treat yourself to a facial rejuvenation after the ski trip. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who is an expert at using lasers to resurface skin.
I would definitely not advise to undergo a laser treatment before a ski trip. Even if you protect your skin the wind and sun will highly likely cause irritation. I would recommend to have the treatment afterwards and take a few days off to recuperate properly.
I wouldn't recommend you undergo laser treatments with Fraxel or anything else just a few days before a ski trip. If you want to look great for vacation, you will need to plan ahead so that your body can recover from whatever procedure you receive. Also, Fraxel will sensitize your skin to light and cold, so you may be uncomfortable or even have an adverse effect such as tightness or sun damage if your skin is exposed to a harsh environment. Please see a board-certified dermatologist after your ski trip to rejuvenate your skin with Fraxel Re:Store.
Thank you for your question. Remember, you should always address any post treatment concerns with your primary surgeon.I would not advise having a Fraxel laser treatment before any type of vacation. Skiing in particular is normally accompanied by sun and wind, both of which will irritate newly treated skin.I would recommend having the treatment done when you can take some time off and recover properly.Sincerely,James Fernau,MD,FACS, Board Certified ENT, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon,Member of ASPS,ASAPS,ISAPS,The Rhinoplasty Society,AAFPRS,OTO/HNS,ASLMS, International Fedration for Adipose Therapeutics & Science
Altitude itself will not have a problem, its the after care. Depending on the settings your specialist may use a combination of the 1927 and 1550... this may case skin peeling. If you are in a low humid cold climate, you have to moisturise a lot more. This coupled with the UV++++ may be an issue. My advice, enjoy your ski holiday and not use this to recover! All the best, Dr Davin Lim. Brisbane, Australia.
Thank you for your question. Minocycline is not a contraindication for Fraxel, which means you can undergo the treatment safely. However, acne scarring can be a complex issue that requires more than one type of treatment to ensure the best results. We offer a wide range of lasers, as well as...
Yes...I do all of my Fraxel Repair treatments under light general anesthesia. I find that the patients tolerate this better than local and a "little sedation." Under general anesthesia, I can go deeper and with more "passes" without the patient being uncomfortable. Many times I...
Hi Lock, all fractional laser technology is similar. Not the same, but similar. The Derma K uses both Erbium (2940nm) and CO2 (10600nm) light. Although the laser light is slightly different for Erbium and CO2 the effect that it has on skin is very similar and both types are used for laser re...
