Hello, I plan to have a lower face/neck lift in about a year. In the meantime I was hoping to get diluted radiesse in my neck to improve the look of it. I'm wondering if this will compromise the results of my neck or make the surgery more difficult or my surgeon? Thank you for you time!
Answer: Things you should know about dermal fillers Thank you for your question. Radiesse is a stronger solution compared to hyaluronic acid fillers because its purpose is to gradually stimulate the body’s collagen production over time. The results can also last for up to two years, while hyaluronic acid dermal filler results may only last for 6-12 months. It may be best to select a filler with a higher potential of wearing off completely prior to your neck lift procedure or forgo the dermal filler altogether. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon who can help you decide on the best injectable treatment timeline for your future goals.

Answer: Radiesse in neck lift surgery Hi SLP New York, If you are planning to get a lower face and neck lift, I suggest you do not do the dilute Radiesse for a number of reason. 1) A great face and neck lift will address the laxity of your skin by lifting it and also disconnecting the muscle attachments that cause the wrinkling of the neck skin. 2) Your surgeon may also elect to add micro or nano-fat grafting to help the skin quality at the same time or 3) may elect to do laser resurfacing of sun damaged skin and fine lines. At times we elect to do all three of these adjunct procedures to get a great outcome for our patients. Please also be aware that Radiesse can last up to a year and if not done correctly can be visible for that period of time; therefore, whatever you do, make sure you pick an experienced board certified plastic surgeon to take great care of you.

Answer: Need photos Your desire to use Radiesse in the neck is unusual. If you are looking to fill wrinkles in the skin, I would use a filler which is less thick instead of trying to dilute Radiesse. Use of a filler for skin wrinkles does not interfere with surgery. However if your purpose is to fill defects, I would advise against Radiesse which works best when placed against a firm surface like bone in the facial skeleton. Also large boluses in the neck might interfere with any neck lift surgery. Pictures would be good to see how you are planning to use the filler.

Answer: I would wait at least 6 months Dear slpnewyork, Thanks for submitting your question. I would recommend to wait at least 6 months between dilute radiesse injections and your surgery. This will give your skin time to heal and not be as inflamed and let the product settle. Inflammation/filler product does make the surgery more challenging, but not impossible. It should not compromise your neck results. Ideally, I would recommend you undergo your face/neck lift and heal from it. You will notice the neck lines markedly improved from your neck lift. After you heal, if there are any residual neck lines you'd like treated, then hyperdilute radiesse would be best. I hope this helps answers your question.
