Angela.  If the injury occurred less than one year ago, you should wait and allow all swelling to resolve and the scar mature.  At that time final assessment of your treatment needs can be done. It may include scar revision with or without fat transfer. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!

best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  The most important question is when was the accident?  You need to allow for adequate time for swelling to resolve and collagen remodeling to occur.  If it is greater than six months ago, you may be a candidate for fat grafting.   The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are
comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified
board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

If the accident was recent, then I would wait because there may be swelling and the redness of the scar will likely fade some more. If the area is still depressed, then fat grafting may help improve the depression.
