Crater-like hole on nose post-cyst removal: best dermatology/plastic surgery advice? (Photo)

Question

I had a cyst removed from my nose. It left a crater-like hole. Dermatologist recommended a subcision, which IMO, made it look even worse. I then went to a different plastic surgeon who recommended Fillers. 3 treatments did not help at all. There has to be some sort of other option available here. This is causing me a ton of mental anguish/social anxiety due to its prominence in the center of my face. Do any doctors have any advice? I'm willing to do whatever it takes at this point. Thanks a million.

Hello and thank you for your question.  The
best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  Based on
your photograph, you may benefit from scar revision with excision and multilayered closure.   Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most
important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

Drew.  Physical exam would be helpful, but it appears from your photograph that the best option for you is excision of this depressed scar and cosmetic closure.  This option is essentially a trade. The depressed scar will hopefully be replaced by a flat linear scar that will fall into the lines of your nose and be much less obvious. Please understand the scar cannot be erased, just hopefully improved greatly. Be certain to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Best of luck.

I would consider having filler placed in the correct deeper portion of the nose.  If the fillers do not correct this hole then you will need a small excision to heal this.  Please consult a expert in scars to assist you.  Best, Dr. Green

I’m sorry for you anguish. Nasal scars can be tricky because they do not have as good of circulation in the very thin and tip of the nose regions.
Prp injections and microneedling may help.
