I've had pain in one calf since week 1 and I'm not sure what to make of it. I have a history of health anxiety, but I don't want to ignore it since I had a risk factor for clotting (birth control). Surgeon wasn't worried but said I should do an ultrasound if I was concerned. I held off and saw my PCP last week. She did a physical exam and told me that she wasn't concerned. The pain isn't constant or bad (like a 2/10) but it is still occurring. Should I be concerned or is it just the anxiety?
Answer: Breast augmentation and calf pain Can't say whether your concern is anxiety or not. You did the right thing by being evaluated in person. What did your PCP think of your surgeon's recommendation of an ultrasound. Questioning and being evaluated until you are not anxious is the right thing to do. Unfortunately, that can't be done thru the internet. Good luck.Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author

Answer: Calf pain after breast augmentation. Hi Applesaucee and thank you for your question. Did you discuss your plastic surgeon's recommendation to have an ultrasound/doppler with your PCP? Without evaluating you in person I cannot comment on what may be the cause of this intermittent calf pain, but I would encourage you to have this evaluated. A ultrasound/doppler is a non-invasive scan that would help to alleviate your concern and hopefully pinpoint the cause of this pain and rule out the presence of a blood clot or DVT. I hope this helps and I wish you all of the best.

Answer: Calf Pain When you say calf pain after a surgery, a doctor will immediately be concerned about you having a blood clot. However, at 4.5 weeks after breast augmentation, I think the chances of that are quite low and there is likely a different cause for your calf pain. You should see you PCP.

Answer: Calf pain after BBA Although likely nothing to worry about, an ultrasound of the calf and legs is an easy and quick test and will rule out the possibility of a clot. I suggest you follow your surgeons advice. If a clot exists and travels to your lung, it can be a extremely serious. Best Regards.
