Breast Augmentation: is 450-475cc enough? (Photo)

It is very difficult to determine the exact size and shape implant you will require to best match your ideal breast image without an examination by a board certified plastic surgeon. Not just any board certified plastic surgeon, but one with many years of frequently performing breast augmentation surgery including different approaches, techniques and implant choices. This is because several measurements not to mention your breast characteristics are needed to determine the optimal implant size to obtain your goals. Without knowing these dimensions it would be difficult to make this determination. For example, the existing base width of your breast will determine, in many cases, the maximal volume per implant profile that you can accommodate. To illustrate; a 100 cc difference may make a significant difference with a narrow base width breast, but much less of a difference if you have a wide chest wall and wide breast “foot print”. Therefore, just because your friend may have a great result with let’s say a 350 cc implant to make her go from a “A” cup to a “C” cup size does not mean that you will have the same result with the same size implant. . Further simply placing implants in a bra to determine the size best for you is not always accurate as the bra often distorts the size, is dependent on the pressure the bra places plus the implant is outside your breast and not under it among other variables. Computer software morphing programs that automatically determine the best implant size can be helpful in some but not all cases (e.g. doesn’t work well in my experience with existing implants, sagging or asymmetric breasts). Using “want to be” photos however are useful if simply provided to the surgeon as I will further explain in the below link.

It is hard to say what you can achieve without a physical examination. Your question is best answered by an in person consultation with your plastic surgeon for examination measurements and discussion of your expectations.

Implant size choice is extremely difficult - it is even more difficult to assist with online and even more difficult to assist with online and without a photo.  Best to follow up with your plastic surgeon and try on sizers in person.  Best of luck.

Thanks for the question, those implants may or may not get you where you want to be, it is best to post some pictures so we can give more sepicific info for example you may want abdominal and waist lipo to get your goals at the same time

Thank you for your question. It is much better to accurately discuss implant volume and projection with an in office exam and detailed measurements. In order to make an accurate size recommendation, I would need to assess your chest wall and breast mound measurements/characteristics. I use these measurements to help me during the sizing process to guide you to a safe result for your chest wall and just as important, one that meets your end desires.The next step is to try on this range of implants in the office with your doctor. The key to this success is showing your surgeon the body proportion you desire with a bra sizer and allowing your surgeon to guide you to the right implant. It will be much easier to communicate in implant cc's than cup size when determining the appropriate implant for you during the sizing process. In addition, review of photos and use of rice bags can be very helpful to the patient and surgeon in achieving a safe and happy result. I would recommend an in person meeting as well because looking at pictures is one thing, but we would need to look at your frame, medical history and talk about the sizes you mentioned.  In person meeting is best.

In clothes posted photos do NOT allow even a guess but to say maybe. Best to seek IN PERSON opinions to address the volume options...

Your question is a good one. There are many factors that go into choosing an appropriate implant size such as existing breast tissue, skin quality, breast base diameter, chest frame--just to name a few. The size you mention 450-475cc is probably on the big side for someone with your frame. The only way to know for sure is to go in for a consultation where measurements can be taken.  Nothing beats a good history and physical exam!

Please keep in mind that recommendations and results are based on numerous factors which are reviewed during your consultation. That being said, a D/DD will look good on a woman with your frame. All of the photos you post show women with full round breasts, presumably wearing push up bras, so it may be possible to achieve a natural result and still get the look you show above.  Good Luck  Doctor Bev
